Legambiente Legambiente is the most widespread environmental NGO in Italy, with 30 years of history, 20 regional branches, in excess of 1,000 local groups and 115,000 members throughout the country. Legambiente is an association of free citizens fighting for an improvement in the quality of life and the environment and guaranteeing health to the entire collective; Legambiente is fighting for a different world, a happier place and with greater equality. Legambiente is committed, day after day, in fighting against climate change, pollution, unauthorized building and has been successful in getting so-called "eco-monsters" torn down; Legambiente has paved the way in Italy towards strong and combative environmental voluntary work.

Legambiente promotes energy-friendly lifestyles: the use of renewable energies, efficient and sustainable buildings, low emission mobility systems and OGM-free food and agriculture. Moreover Legambiente collaborates with schools on environmental educational programmes and provides an opportunity for participation to thousands of students and teachers.

Legambiente gives updated information on environmental issues to all its members with the magazine ‘La Nuova Ecologia’. With cooperation projects in developing countries, Legambiente fights for a world where people and communities really are the leading players of the future.
